The family behind it
My family has been running guest houses and bed and breakfasts in the Eastern Cape for twenty years. In that time you learn what actually matters to somebody arriving late, tired and away from home — a bed that is properly made, hot water that works, a door that locks, and someone who picks up when you call.
Candlewood Place is the result of applying that to a different kind of guest.
Why this property exists
Walmer has become Gqeberha's business centre, and the accommodation around it had not kept up. Professionals coming for a week of meetings were choosing between hotel rooms with a desk pushed against the wall and holiday rentals set up for families on the beach.
So this was built for the middle: a private 100 m² home with two ensuite bedrooms, a full kitchen and a proper workspace — five kilometres from Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) airport and minutes from the Walmer business district. Somewhere you can take a call, cook a real meal, and sleep without hearing the corridor.
What that means when you stay
- You deal with the owner, not a call centre
- The property is cleaned and inspected between every guest
- Rates are the same on this site as anywhere — booking direct is simply cheaper for you
